“Dyslexia is not a complexity. It is a compound of simple factors that need to be dealt with step-by-step”
– Ronald D. Davis
About the Davis® Method
The Davis® Method is a strengths-based approach designed to support individuals with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences by addressing the root causes of learning confusion, rather than focusing only on symptoms.
Developed by Ron Davis, who is dyslexic himself, the Davis® Method recognizes that many neurodivergent individuals are highly intelligent, creative, and visual thinkers. These strengths, while powerful, can also create challenges when learning abstract symbols such as letters, words, numbers, and punctuation.
A Strength-Based Approach to Learning
The Davis® Method works with the way neurodiverse minds naturally think.
Instead of relying on repetition, memorization, or behavior-based strategies, the Davis® approach:
Builds on visual and picture-thinking strengths
Teaches individuals how to recognize and control confusion
Helps learners gain clarity, focus, and confidence
This allows learning to become calmer, more meaningful, and more effective.
Understanding Disorientation
At the heart of the Davis® Method is the concept of disorientation.
Disorientation occurs when a person’s perception becomes confused—often triggered by unfamiliar or abstract symbols. This can affect reading, spelling, math, focus, coordination, and emotional regulation.
The Davis® Method teaches individuals how to:
Recognize when disorientation is happening
Use simple techniques to return to a calm, focused state
Stay oriented while learning
This skill alone often leads to noticeable improvements in learning and emotional regulation.
Making Language Concrete
Many learning challenges stem from unclear or incomplete understanding of language symbols.
In the Davis® Method, learners:
Master the exact meaning of confusing words and symbols
Use hands-on, creative techniques—including clay modeling—to make abstract concepts concrete
Build a clear, stable understanding of language and symbols
This process supports stronger reading comprehension, spelling accuracy, writing confidence, and math understanding.
Personalized & One-to-One
Every Davis® program is delivered one-to-one and tailored to the individual.
Programs are adapted based on:
Age and developmental stage
Learning profile and strengths
Personal goals and challenges
This individualized approach ensures learning is meaningful, effective, and empowering.
A Focus on Independence
A core goal of the Davis® Method is independence.
Rather than creating reliance on ongoing support, the method equips individuals with tools they can use on their own—supporting lifelong learning, confidence, and self-trust.
Who the Davis® Method Supports
The Davis® Method is used worldwide to support:
Children, teens, and adults with dyslexia
Individuals with attention and focus challenges
Learners who have not thrived with traditional approaches
Neurodiverse individuals seeking clarity, confidence, and practical tools
