Catching up.. birthdays, art, puzzles and more!!!

I would normally post a whole bunch of blogs in a row to catch up but for the sake of actually getting it done, I am going to post several topics in each blog (grouped by the appropriate category…) So it was my birthday a month ago… almost to the day…  I organized a bowling/dinner event and shared the day with two very close friends of mine who are fellow Aquarians and were born very close to when I was.  Everyone met at the bowling alley (lanes were rented by the hour) and the four lanes were filled with people bowling. Now I don’t know how I always end up in this situation and you think I would/should have learned by now but we pre-paid for the lanes at $35/hour (2 hours and 4 lanes) which was well over $200 for the day.  That included shoe rental.  Well somehow we ended … Read More

Inspiration and learning go hand in hand!

Feb 2nd: I am home sick today (and was yesterday too) and I am pretty sure I am not supposed to be blogging.  I have been given the strictest of instructions to rest. Of course my idea of rest includes a continuous flow of food shows on TV which is then followed by a whole lot of inspiration. Today, I am watching some Food Network and a lot of Julia Child.  One thing I have learned from Julia Child right off the bat is that Julia isn’t perfect and some of the things she teaches, shows that sometimes procrastiation can lead to learning something new (sometimes soemthing good!) and that things don’t have to be as intricate as you might expect if you actually open her cookbook and browse her multitude of recipes and recipes within recipes. Julia tends to cook very much like I do.. using instincts.. I am … Read More

Mornings… and customer service

I woke up and was immediately hungry this morning and for the first time this week, I didn’t have a breakfast plan.  Now those who know me, know that my breakfasts (in general) are really unusual but there is usually some sort of plan. So today, I decided to grab a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich at the deli near where I work (Marcello’s).  I won’t get into the multitude of issues I have with this establishment and how I only ever go there out of convenience/laziness… I walked in and had a plan to try a new type of bread.  The last time, I had a multi-grain (which in my opinion is more of a light rye) and I have lost interest in bagels over the past year. I am standing 4 people away from the counter and I am asked for my order.  I have several issues with this and although … Read More

Wow.. What a twist!

I have to say, the universe always keeps my life exciting! Granted, I often create or seek out my own excitement but sometimes, the universe steps in and tosses something in my direction that just makes me happy! Saturday night, I had the best first date!  I am not going to detail it all because quite frankly, I am not going to kiss and tell.. but I can assure you that it was fantastic.  I will definitely never forget it and am so happy that there will indeed be a second! There are so many weird rules I have heard in my lifetime about what to do/not to do on a first date and you know what, I think I broke more than half of them.. and I don’t care!  I think it all comes down to acting naturally and feeling the moment. Had it been with another person, I … Read More
